Mumbai, Jul 1 (UNI) Snapping the rising trend of the last six sessions today, the 30 scrip Index of the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) eased by 83.07 points to end the last day of the week on a negative note at 18,762.80 on profit booking at higher levels.
The Nifty of the National Stock Exchange (NSE) also fell by 20.20 points to 5,627.20.
The benchmark Sensex crossed the 19K mark and touched a high of 19,032 in the opening session led by positive cues from global bourses, but selling pressure seeped in, dragging the index to a low of 18,713.07. However, the index erased some losses in the afternoon session and ended at 18,762,80.
The Nifty of the national stock Exchange (NSE) recorded the day's high and low at 5705.80 and 5627.20 respectively.
The market breadth, indicating the overall health of the market, was positive. On BSE, 1,700 shares advanced while 1,152 shares declined. A total of 132 shares remained unchanged.
Among the 30-member Sensex pack, 17 rose, while the rest of them fell.
Markets across Asia ended mostly higher as debt concerns over Greece took a back seat. Japan's Nikkei Stock Average climbed 0.5 Percent, South Korea's Kospi gained 1.2 percent, and Hong Kong's Hang Seng added 1.5 percent.
In the broader market, both Midcap and small cap were up by 0.69 percent and 0,83 percent respecitively. both these indicies out performed the Sensex today. There was mixed response in the sectoral indicies with BSE the Top sectoral gainer today up by 3.01 percent Followed by IT by 0.78 percent, Metal by 0.57 percent, Power by 0.44 percent, PSU by 0.33 percent, Bankex by 0.25 percent, TEck by 0.17 percent and FMCG by 0.07 percent.
Oil&Gas was the top loser in the sectoral indicies, down by 1.84 percent, followed by CD by 0.79 percent, HC by 0.34 percent, Auto by 0.18 percent and CD by 0.16 percent.
The Top gainers in the realty sector were Peninsula Land, up 5.1 percent , DLF gained 4.65 percent and Indiabulls Real Estate added 3.4 percent.
The losers in the Oil& Gas sector were HPCL by 1.6 percen, BPCL by 0.6 percent and Indian Oil fell 0.1 percent.
DLF moved up by 4.65 per cent to Rs 220.35, leading the top gainers in the Sensex-based group A, on the BSE.
RIl was the top loser down by 3.99 percent The other gainers were Hindalco inds by 2.98 percent to 186.40, Reliance Comm by 1.78 percent to 97.40, Sterlite Inds to 1.22 percent to 170.10, Bajaj Auto by 1.05 percent to 1420.60 Hero Honda by 1.05 1897.45 , Reliance Infra by 541.65, wipro by 1.05 percent to 422.00 and Infosys LTD by 0.93 percent to 2934.30.
Cairn India stock was up 5.2 percent at Rs 327, the cabinet gave a conditional nod to Vedanta Resources for acquiring a controlling stake in Cairn India, the deal is valued at around USD 6 billion. Read More
